Some notes of interest from the last organizational meeting
The organizing committee had their last planning session. We have quite a list of things for the Silent Auction. There will be several tables of items that will close at various times to avoid congestion
A good amount has been collected in the Raffle Department divided between the 4 items, However in that cash pot are donations that were given without taking tickets so chances of winning are great.
George Paul from the Avant Gardners will be offering a custom written waltz. Live auction by Jim Matthews.
SO, Come on out next Sunday afternoon, bring a snack to share, money to spend, and DANCE, DANCE, DANCE.

Latest Update on Event Happenings
Well we have quite a list of callers for the Care Fest!
There are plenty of donations for the silent auction... coming in so fast that we can't list them all. AND the raffle items have plenty of tickets to be sold so chances are pretty good of winning either the laptop, the signed Salvador Dali print, the beautiful quilt or the guitar. Tickets can be bought at the dances between now and then and at the event.

The REAL STORY
Rumor has it that Charlie's accident was really caused when he was defending 300 innocent babies against a giant "Platypus Bear"! Charlie won and saved the babies. Comments encouraged to correct and detail this story!

More donation information
Lara Kammrath is a friend of Charlie's that has been helping him with things. Here is some info she shared with the committee organizing this benefit. "Donations made to helpHOPElive will be tax deductible, and the money is restricted for Charlie's medical expenses only. The other option is to make donations to a private trust set up by Charlie's grandparents. To donate to this private trust, checks should be made out to: "The Charles M. Cook Irrevocable Special Needs Trust". The private trust doesn't have restrictions on how Charlie spends the money. But, donations to the private trust are not tax deductible."

Getting it going
This evening a group of Charlie's contra dance friends met at Panera Bread in Kernersville to begin hashing out the details of our fundraising event for Charlie Cook. This blog will share information with a facebook event page to give the details on Charlie's Contra CareFest as it develops.
We have a date, a place, and a time. As we secure bands, callers and auction items, we will be posting more details on the page links here and on the FB Event page.
Check back often for details!
